6.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Italy

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit central Italy early this morning (just 10km SE of Norcia) as the result of shallow normal faulting on a NW-SE oriented fault in the Central Apennines
In a Red alert level for economic loss, extensive damage is probable and the disaster is likely widespread.
