NOAA predicts above-normal 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season

NOAA is predicting an above-normal 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, which occurs June 1 to November 30. The outlook indicates an 85% chance of an above-normal season.

Of the forecast 25 named storms, 8 to 13 are expected to become hurricanes (with winds of 74 mph or higher). Among the hurricanes, 4 to 7 may be major hurricanes (category 3, 4, or 5, with winds of 111 mph or higher).

With more severe storms forecast, property risk management and mitigation is more important than ever. Maptycs is a powerful geospatial tool helping risk managers and insurers track these hurricanes with live weather data and customizable alerts.
